About us

It all started with coffee as an obvious part of everyday life. For our founder Leonard, coffee was precisely that for a long time – something you drank, appreciated, and returned to several times a day. But over time, curiosity grew, and coffee went from being a routine to becoming a genuine interest. The step from coffee consumer to coffee enthusiast was taken, and soon Leonard began experimenting with small-scale roasting.

Even during his studies, coffee and coffee breaks were an important part of the day – moments for companionship, reflection, and energy. Coffee then followed him into his professional life. Leonard currently works as a pilot, and it's actually no myth that pilots drink a lot of coffee. Irregular working hours, early mornings, and long days made coffee a constant companion, and here too, it solidified its place in the daily routine.

The pilot profession also opened the door to travels around the world, where Leonard had the opportunity to discover coffee from a variety of coffee roasteries. New flavors, brewing methods, and stories took shape, as did a deeper understanding of coffee's origin – from growing countries and regions to how much craftsmanship is actually contained in a cup. Above all, it became clear what an enormous difference there can be between one coffee and another.

It was here that the interest in specialty coffee took hold. Unlike the coffee often produced in large volumes for supermarket shelves, specialty coffee is about quality at every stage. The coffee is traceable, carefully cultivated and assessed, and roasted with the ambition to highlight the bean's natural flavors and character – not to conceal them. Each coffee is unique and influenced by its origin, its process, and how it is roasted.

Curiosity led to action. Leonard bought a small amount of green coffee from a local coffee shop in Gothenburg and began roasting in the traditional way – inspired by how coffee in its origin, Ethiopia, was roasted over an open fire. The results varied, sometimes very good and sometimes less successful, but every roasting became a learning experience.

Through careful notes, tests, and a growing interest in the details of the roasting process, the journey truly took off. Investing in a smaller drum roaster was a crucial step, where precision and control made it possible to refine flavors and create more consistent, nuanced roasts.

Over time, a conviction also grew: coffee is a central part of so many people's daily lives, and the interest in quality and craftsmanship is greater than one might think. After much research – and generous encouragement from everyone who has followed and tasted the journey – the idea was born that Torslanda needs a local coffee roastery.

Today, our roastery rests on the same foundation as when it all began: curiosity, respect for the raw material, and a passion for good coffee. We roast coffee with care and precision, with the goal that every cup should tell its own story – from bean to brewed experience.
